David Burbidge has led choirs and singing groups for over 30 years - locally in Kendal, Dentdale, Bentham and Settle - and also further afield on the Scottish islands of Islay and Jura, in the mountains across the Lake District, and in Slovenia.
He has led singing groups on trains across the UK and continental Europe, with the Singing Cyclists from the west to the east coast of Northern England, and on mountain walking expeditions to the top of the Paps of Jura, Scafell, Suilven and Triglav, Slovenia's highest mountain, where they performed songs about mountains in Slovenian.
He teaches mostly by ear - where singers learn without written music, by call and response - but also leads some choirs where both forms of learning are used. His songs are drawn mostly from the folk traditions across the UK, but also from other countries, in 2, 3 and 4 part harmony.
